This light bar kit appeared to be an economical solution to add driving lights to my Shadow Spirit. The quality appeared good and the fitment and instructions were good as well. This kit has a major flaw however, the cast chrome hollow nut and bolt that connects the lamp to the light bar is poor quality. As I mocked up the assembly on the bike the nut cross threaded and I could not tighten or loosen the bolt. After several phone calls and BBP telling me I had to by another lamp and return the defective one when all I wanted was a replacement nut/ bolt I gave up and they told me I could return it through Cruiser Customizing. When I took apart the kit I discovered the other nut was failing as well. I ultimately decided to return the kit. I would spend a little more next time and get a little higher quality product. The folks at Cruiser Customizing noted similar problems with other orders and accpted the return. Buy cheap, get cheap. If you read the reviews you will see others have had si...

I should have gotten these lights years ago. Makes a huge difference when riding at night. Increases safety factor exponentially. An extra set of hands would have made installation easier. I nearly stripped one of the bolts that holds a light in place. Now I'm afraid to make any adjustments to it for fear I will strip it all the way. Otherwise, completely satisfied.

I love this thing! Not beacuse it allows me to see better, but because I feel it allows others to see me better. It looks nice and was fairly easy to install, but lordy, lordy make sure you know what you're tapping into before you hook this thing up to the electical system. It comes with a switch which is virtually useless because there's no place to mount it without drilling about a 5/8" hole. Because I only wanted this to increase my daytime visibility, I hard wired the thing so it runs all the time. Be prepared to do some fiddling with the install if you have a windshield. I found that if I mounted the crossbar upside down, it gave me the clearance I needed. Other than that... awesome!

Thank you for a great set of lights, It makes my bike look very nice. I followed the electrical instructions and it work great until a few hours ago. I noticed the lights blink a little and the smell of melting wire was next..I remove the seat to follow my nose....and discover the red wire caming from the battery was  very hot ?????
The wires at the relay are ok the groung wire for the lights are ok the wires to the swicth are ok what can be making this red wire to get hot the fuse never pop still good??
Where should I get my power from, right know I have it coming from a brown wire that gets power when the ignition swicth is on  or should I get it from the 10 amp fuse for the headlight ???
    Please give me some ideas.

    Thanks,
    Guillermo escobar

How to measure the current with a multimeter:

Just keep the meter on the 10 amp current input, as at 12 v it will be under 10 amps of DC current (approx 9.1 amps) It will actually be less current if the bike is running as the voltage being provided will be somewhere around 13 to 14 volts ie 110 watts divided by 13 volts is 8.4 amps etc etc

That should draw just under 10 amps - I would recommend that you get yourself a Multimeter and measure the AMPS going through the red wire that is getting hot.

What size wire did you use? For two 55 W bulbs I'd use 12-14 ga. You may have just used too small of gauge of wire. Which can't handle the load required.
