Paul Herback (herbackp) from Calgary, AB, Canada, for a 2009 1300 Royal Star Venture wrote: I had no problem installing the headset into the helmet (shoei RJ-PLATINUM-R OPEN FACE HELMET). The music is very clear however if you are looking for any bass at all you will not find it in this headset. I am using the yamaha oem audio system to mix the bass and treble but it doesn't make any real differance. I also find when using the CB there is more hiss than I would like. I am not sure if it is the headset or the yamaha system itself. The shoei helment is very quite low db from wind, this means that the volume to the headset is low and music is clear, nice when on those long rides. I also us my ipod and works very well with mp3 plug in. However the bars on the venture with all the stuff attached to them does not leave much room to attache your ipod/iphone. Steve (CaptainGadget) from Grosse Pointe, MI, United States, for a 2008 Rocket III Touring wrote: Instead of the J&M Elite Series headset, my local MC shop recommended the AirRider headset series for my full face helmet. Slightly less expensive and they feel the AirRider model is a better value and sounds better. So far, I haven't been disappointed! The only paranoia I had was having to scallop out the area in the helmet to house the ear speakers. Now the ear speakers fit very nicely in the helmet... and sound great too. Tommy E (Schoenerman) from Columbus, OH, United States, for a 2008 Charcoal S 1300 Royal Star Venture wrote: These are very tough to install and EXPENSIVE. They work well, but only after a lot of head scratching and re-reading the instructions. PLEASE NOTE....you MUST have the 'right kind of helmet'....at least the right kind of helmet liner. Not all 'open face' helmets allow installation. You have to have a zip-on stereo-ready strap piece with slip-in 'ear pockets'. We went to a local dealer and bought NEW HELMETS (another expense) rather than take up the manufacturer on the offer to 'modify your existing helmet for a nominal charge'. ALSO note....only ONE HEADSEAT cost you $250. I thought I was buying a SET for my wife and me to talk to one another. Not so. Back to the dealer and another $250 later.....we have two. Add that to the TWO new helmets and we have $700 + tied up in a system that allows us to talk to one another while we're sitting 2 feet apart. AIN'T THAT A DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
