I'm using the stock Yamaha upright and fender brackets for the 650 also. Actually the brackets where just slightly wider that the space where it attached, but a quick squeeze in a clamp made them fit fine. Looks good on the bike and holds 10-20 pounds no problem. Kinda tight mounting it to the back rest and getting the holes to line up. Had to use a 2x4 and hammer to "align" the holes. Looks great, and is very strong.
