The mounting screw holes are drilled perpendicular to the arm, but the arms are angled slightly - this makes getting the screws for that go through the brackets that hold the upright and luggage rack very difficult to thread properly. My complaint is with the quality of the chrome - its pretty sad, especially for the price they get. Started rusting after about 3-4 months, and must be polished a lot to keep it looking decent. The bike sits in a garage at home and under a half-cover at work. If you care how your bike looks, be prepared to polish away rust or pitch it after about a year...
