Hi guys and gals, my name is Uwe (pronounced oo-vay) Druckenmueller, CEO and founder of Cruiser Customizing.
I'm an import from Germany, came to the US to study computer science in Baton Rouge. Afterwards I went to work for an e-commerce company in San Francisco, right at the start of the dot-com boom. We built web sites day and night for a few years until the "hype" was gone.
I decided to combine my passion for motorcycles with the Internet and turn it into a business ... I used to ride sport bikes in Germany, discovered my love for cruisers in the US and got a beautiful Honda 1100 Aero in 2000 and a 1800 Wing in 2002. In 2002 I rode over 30,000 miles on my Aero and Goldwing when I visited all the major bike rallies to promote the CruiserCustomizing.com website. You can read some of the stories in our newsletters from 2002.
In 2005 I got a 750 Aero to test out all the new accessories for that bike, we later sold it to a CC member. The same year I also got a green American Ironhorse Texas Chopper and rode it to Colorado with my buddy Machine.
I haven't owned a car in 10 years and ride every day, rain or shine, 30 degrees or 120 degrees, it doesn't make a difference to me. There is no bad weather, only bad riding gear.
I can't remember when exactly I picked up the motorcycle disease but I definitely got it. I was also diagnosed with MBS (multiple bike syndrome). I was in denial about it for years but now I have 7 bikes in my garage and learned how to live with that disease ... ;-) I have an 07 HD Roadglide, 03 Aprilia Futura (Vtwin), 08 Aprilia 450 RXV dirtbike (also Vtwin) and an 08 Victory Vision ... ... ok, ok, one more: on Christmas Eve 2008 I picked up my new Aprilia Caponord dual sport bike, now I can go pretty much anywhwere.
CruiserCustomizing supports biker clubs and their charity events and poker runs. See for more details.
I'm very excited to share my passion for the motorcycle lifestyle with all of you.
Thought I would repost this as a reminder as to why we are all here.
Something about this site strikes me with an innocence we haven't had since we were kids. Someone reads about you, sees your pictures of bikes, you or whatever and takes an instant liking to you. Lo' and behold you get mail that says someone wants to be your friend. Isn't that what it was like as kids but somehow got lost as we grew older???
Sometimes someone will post something that offends another member but and I do mean but, we are all friends and should be able to agree to disagree, just like we do with outside of CC friends. Nice thing about friends, they accept you just the way you are.
I have acquired female friends that I would be intimidated to speak to on the street but our bikes and this site give us common ground. Ain't life amazing?
