Might help if you have a second pair of hands when you go to set them on the bike but I did it myself and it just takes some patience. Not the Harley sound if that is what you are after, but a nice deep throaty sound that blows away the stock Honda sound. I revved it up beside a buddys Harley 1300 and I like the sound of mine better. ONE WORD OF CAUTION - these DO NOT come with new crush gaskets. Order them from the website, they are like $16. I didn't know that and had to run to the Honda dealer for some and paid $24. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

I did a K&N intake and Power Commander and Dyno tune with PC link and it sucks on my 1800. The sound is great but I miss my stock pipes. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Fitting is a pain in a.. After a period of time they rattle and make noise. Clamps are low quality and tend to strip. So you are constantly changing them to get a peice of mind. Note: Mine were not welded correctly, not evenly spaced throughout. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
(5 stars) reviewed on 08/08/09 byBruce (brucelusa) from Voorhees, NJ, United States, for a 2002 1800 VTX1800R (Retro) wrote: After 6 years I had to change my pipes, the popping and back firing was enough. I had the Bubs Chambermaids, This drove me crazy and through all the reviews and research, I went with these pipes. What a difference in sound and performance, I also had to change my Dynojet, the one I had was purchased in 2003 and it was a com-port adapter and was not holding the proper map. The new one is a USB and the mapping was a breeze. If you have to change do not waste your time go with the Vance & Hance especially with their cross over system and new Dynojet PowerCommander unbelievable difference A+ Review Details Was this review helpful to you? (4 stars) reviewed on 07/26/09 byIvoryDawg (IvoryDawg) from Colorado Springs, CO, United States, for a 2004 1800 VTX1800R (Retro) wrote: Sound is excellent and not too loud. Install was pretty easy with my son's help. Required some extra stainless washers under the stock acorn nuts to take up the extra space as a result of the flange on these pipes being thinner than the stock pipe's flanges. Without the washers, the acorn nuts bottomed out on the stud before the pipes were tight. Look good too, although the chrome exhaust covers have some small ripples in them where the clamp brackets are welded to the inside. Not really noticable but should be better for this price. There was a bit of a struggle getting the pipes to line up with the engine, but once that hurdle was crossed the rest was a breeze. Sound is awesome. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? (5 stars) reviewed on 04/22/09 byTigerman (Tigerman67VTX) from Monument, CO, United States, for a 2002 1800 VTX1800R (Retro) wrote: Mounted these on my VTX1800R. A bit of a pain to mount by yourself. A big weight loss from stock. Sounds good, can roll into the neighborhood easily and not irritate the neighbors, or blip the throttle in traffic to prevent someone from sideswipping you. Sound quality is very subjective, but I liked the sound of these. Don't forget the exhaust gaskets when you install. For some reason on these pipes (unlike the big shots made for other bikes), you can not access the baffle screw without removing the pipes and taking the heat shields off. If you think you might want to remove or repack your baffles while they are on the bike, I recommend you use a step drill to make access holes before mounting them to the bike.
