When you open the box, you can see right away the quality and workmanship is just unbelievable. Any seams that exist are almost invisible and the welds are flawless. The chrome is brilliant. Very heave gage steel throughout. Absolute top notch quality. The installation wasn't a snap, but doable with some extra effort. The kit has two small sections of intermediate pipe were designed to fit over the original header pipes and original “exhaust connectors”. The new mufflers then go on these intermediate pipes. The “exhaust connectors” are what seals the factory mufflers to the factory header pipes. They are about an inch or so wide, maybe 1/16” or so thick and look like super compressed steel wool. Really they are just big gaskets. The directions to the kit appear to assume the connectors would stay on the header pipes. I can almost guarantee you that they will stay in the muffler when you pull things apart. If you were to use them again, you would have to pry them out ...

What an incredible sound...nice, throaty purr. I removed the fiberglass packing for a deeper tone. Be sure you order new exhaust connectors at the same time, otherwise you'll be admiring your new pipes as they lay on the garage floor. I used an exhaust expander (Auto Zone has a tool loaner program) to fit the gaskets into the connecting pipe--quite a time saver. Easy install, and I'm not a motor head by any stretch of the imagination.

First off, toss out instructions. patience is the key. think it out first then proceed. You will be amazed at the resolts. The sound is perfect, the look and quality great. I like the look of pipes on both sides of this bike, the one sided styles leave the off side very bare. Greatest addition so far.
