I first sprayed a little break free in there so by the time I got the shields off the old baffles came right out. I used four small strips of muffler tape as others described and spayed some more break free on there and they went right in. Now it did quiet my Big Shots down a little but not too much. I like the deeper sound I get out of them now so all in all I am very please with the baffles. I would recommend this product. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

Sounds good- not as beautiful as the standard baffles: but you'll be able to borrow a cup of sugar from your neighbors again- I may adjust them with a little less wrapping.. The pipes are really loud. I have had complaints of other riders that it is too loud when riding behind me. I also wanted it quieter for my neighbors. I am very happy with these new baffles. They quiet it down a little, but like others said, it still has that loud "bark" when you give it gas. I'm very impressed. In my opinion, these are a must. As far as installation goes, the most difficult part for me was removing the old baffles. As other said, first you have to remove the chrome heat shields (fastened on with hose clamps). In my case, I also had to remove the right side foot board. They are a little tricky to get off. Once that is off, you can use an allen wrench to remove the one screw that holds the baffle in. The hard part now is removing the baffle, as it will be stuck in there pretty good. The best method I found was to soak the baffle with WD40 and le... Review Details Was this review helpful to you? (5 stars) reviewed on 05/13/10 byJason (Finkel0119) from , , United States, for a 2006, grey 1300 VTX1300C wrote: I just put the quiet baffles on. It does lower the idle sound as well as the slower speed sound. You still get great sound out of the pipe with these in. You DO NOT get any instruction on how to put them on when you receive them. You need to remove the heat shields by unscrewing the metal clamps and removing a few of them. For the bottom/longer heat shield, I needed to remove the crankshaft cover as well as take out the bolts for the right foot peg/foot board. Once the heat shields are off, it was a pretty easy install. Other said it was hard to get the baffle in, but I was able to get it in by rotating it so the material didn't bunch up. Putting the heat shields back on were easier than taking them off. Over all, GREAT PURCHASE. Very happy with results. Can't wait to get out and ride for a few hours and enjoy them. As many have said, still some growl on the road - quieter in the neighborhood for those relationships. I got them because leaving at 6:40 AM, I was trying to be a better neighbor. It works IMO to quiet the noise at low revs but still lets you know what going on when under power. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |

I think they lower the sound very little but now when the cops stop me for loud pipes, their broom stick or night stick won't go all the way in. It is still loud when you get on it but the sound is so much better. At lower speeds the sound is lower, but definitely not stock sound kind of lower. I would suggest anyone who has straightshots or big shots to get them jsut for the sound it produces alone. Review Details Was this review helpful to you? Yes No |
