No, not leather, but close, and much easier to take care of. Went for the Grey Thunder bags because I thought the grey portions would compliment my silver VTX - it kinda works - I'm not disappointed. Appropriately sized for my tastes - neither too huge nor too small. I ended up cutting off the throwover straps and mounted these semi-permanently: Installed a backing plate inside the bags and mounted clips and J-bolts to attach the bags to the support brackets. Bags can be removed in less than a minute by loosening two wingnuts in each bag and slipping them off. This has been a workable arrangement for less than $200.
